PDF accessibility doesn't have to be hard.

Whether you're a novice or experienced remediator, Equidox software saves you time and effort. Use Equidox to quickly tag text and headings and easily correct the reading order.

AI-powered features make even the most tedious tasks quick and easy. Equidox automatically detects and tags list elements even for nested lists. It also automatically detects and tags table rows and columns. Add image alt text all in one location or on each page.

Equidox eases your workload by allowing collaboration with others on the same document. Making PDFs accessible has never been easier.

Equidox Features

Equidox's zone editor shows a section for adjusting a heading in a PDF.

AI-Powered Tagging

Equidox uses machine learning and computer vision to automatically detect and tag elements like text, headings, lists, tables, and images—greatly reducing the manual tagging work needed.

If you need to adjust the auto-tagging, adding or editing tags is made much simpler, compared to Adobe workflows.

The Equidox interface shows tools for tagging and ordering a PDF's content.

Smart Detection

Tools like the Smart Zone Detector, List Detector, Table Detector, and Reading Order allow you to remediate complex document structures with just a few clicks.

The export settings of a PDF in Equidox show multiple options, including HTML, PDF, and EPUB

Export Options

If you'd rather convert a PDF to a different format, Equidox can do that. Convert to HTML so you can make it a webpage, or convert to EPUB to make a document usable with e-reader devices. You can also export the accessible version of the PDF.

Equidox's chat widget is opened to show an article database and an option to submit help tickets.

On-Demand Help

Equidox's help articles include release notes on the newest features, a user guide for getting started, and quick tips for using it with tools like Canva.

If you need help with a PDF, the submit ticket function can also get you connected with an Equidox expert for advice.

Getting Access

To get access to the Equidox platform:

  1. Email Web Help to request access. WebTech will get you assigned with the proper permissions.
  2. Check your WWU email for an invite from Equidox. This will have instructions on how to set up your account.
  3. Once your account is set up, you can log into Equidox with your university email and password.

Note on Seat Limit

Western's Equidox account allows up to 5 people to use it at the same time. If you find you can't access the system with the correct credentials, that may be due to over 5 people trying to use it at that time. You can try logging in again later that day or another time when other users have logged off.
